Argentina Day 3 - Glacier day

We are finally getting to the business at hand in Argentina, with our first tour in the country today. The bus pulled up at 8am so we could beat the crowds at the Perito Moreno Glacier. It was a 1.5 hr drive with a few stops along the way for pictures. It was decided that we’d add a boat ride to the tour. This boat took us closer to the glacier on the left side of the 5km wide ice field. It was a great ride to get closer to the glacier and gain perspective of the height and breadth.

After the boat ride, we drove over to the decks where we could explore more of the glacier. With this being fall in the southern hemisphere, I didn’t expect to see any calving, but we got to hear and see several chunks of glacier fall into the lake. We spent about 2 hrs walking around the decks and taking in the views. Then we returned to town for a few hours of exploring shops before dinner.

On our welcome drive to the hotel yesterday, it was recommended that we visit a restaurant outside of town. The restaurant picked us up at our hotel and took us on a short ride to a great view. The meal was great! A highly recommended feast!

Tomorrow we head 3.5hrs north to El Chalten for the hiking portion of our adventure.
